24th Jan, 2012 – (Kazor.com) – Marissa Ana Moritz was delighted to announce to colleagues yesterday that Metroville had been nominated to receive a special award in the national Business against Litter campaign. Metroville scores a creditable fifth on the list of small towns surveyed by the anti litter group.
The Mayor of Metroville John Neylon said the whole town was delighted about the special award and cited the hard work of the business community, volunteers, and council staff in restoring a sense of pride to the town. “This was not an overnight success. This incredible result was achieved through the hard work of everyone involved and the generosity of our residents and business community”.
Ellen C Kim who is a well-known face in town affairs when she is not running her delicatessen shop spearheaded the task force. She said, “As residents and traders in the town, we needed to go the extra mile to ensure our town was a clean, tidy place to visit and I suggested we enter the award to John Neylon and Marissa Ana Moritz. They agreed so we formed a committee, raised funds to sponsor the litter wardens and gave ourselves three months of hard work to achieve our objective”.
Marissa Ana Moritz commented “ We are all thrilled that the town has featured in the awards for the first time and as the County Architect, it is great to see the buildings looking cleaner and the flower baskets adorning them set them off perfectly.”
“I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the committee and all of the volunteers and workers who gave freely of their time to make our town a better place to live and to improve the experience of visitors to the town ” John Neylon concluded.
The award will be presented to the town in a special ceremony later in the year.
